- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
GIS is becoming an important tool used in many professions. From agricultural to zoological applications, GIS helps manage important geographical features. A GIS combines similar features and develops layers of data that are referenced to their exact locations on Earth. Information (or attributes) describing these features are linked to their physical location. Once the location of features and their corresponding characteristics are known, spatial analysis can occur. More than just a simple map, this data has the capability to provide the user with an efficient method for answering complicated questions.
